Time Management

Sorry, there was no blog post yesterday as Substack was down.

It has been widely explored that time is the most limited and most important resource we have, and we have to be able to manage that time to lead a healthy life.

Time management has never been something I’ve personally struggled with much until now.

Managing your time is a balancing act. Add some time here, remove some from there: a process most of us are familiar with while trying to make time to do something.

Schoolwork hasn’t been something that’s hard to manage for me; while it is really hard to manage for many people. I’ve been able to stay on top of schoolwork for a long time, and making time for myself was also easy.

Recently though, I started getting into filmmaking, photography and music production.

Trying to make time for all those things? Not easy. Not easy at all.

Time management is basically an act of deciding what your priorities are.

If you believe that schoolwork is more important than exercise, then you’ll give it the preference for time. You’ll probably end up allotting more time for schoolwork.

People often say that if something is a priority, you will end up making time for it. You only can’t find time for something when it isn’t a priority. I think that’s half true, as some things are of higher priority than others; leading to almost no time left for the activities on the bottom of the “priority list.”

After all, music is just a hobby.

Initially, I was flooded with schoolwork. It was most definitely my main priority and it ate in extensively into the time I put into other things.

After doing schoolwork, I didn’t have the mind to do anything else cause I was just too tired.

Now that I don’t have that much schoolwork, I’m a lot more free and a lot less stressed and I’ve been able to give time to my other passions.

I think I’m getting better at it.

What helped me?

Taking off-days definitely helped. Some days where I just did nothing helped clear my mind out and let me relax for a bit.

I started using my calendar a lot more actively and I began to block time in my calendar for stuff I want to do.

I also started using a to-do list application for the tasks I want to complete on that particular day.

As I’ve already stated, time management is a balancing act; primarily based on the amount of time you have and how important those tasks are for you.

Else i wouldn’t have had time to take pictures like this!

Thanks for reading.
