Why I respect everyone who makes music

Making music is a form of expression.

It is not easy, though. Making music takes a lot of effort, conceptual clarity, and dedication.

And I respect anyone who's tried to/has made music.

It doesn't matter if the music is bad in my opinion.

Like, if I don't like the music someone makes, that's fine! I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and everyone has their own idea of what music they like. I just won't play the music I don't enjoy.

But the reason I respect anyone who makes music is because it takes a lot of time. It's a huge commitment to say "I want to share how I'm feeling and what I'm going through using music." Of all things, music.

Music is also super experimental.

I usually end up liking experimental songs more than refined music most of the time because it truly showcases what music-making is like: its just trying a bunch of different things, learning what works and what doesn't, and making each song better than the next. It's a journey.

Especially if someone who is not known for making music makes a song, its probably not going to be as great as if someone who's been making music for 20 years makes a song. But just the fact that they commit to making music is commendable in its own right.

To be known for something else, and share your music with the world is basically like sharing your learning process.
